Yay I managed some sewing

This year I've decided to make Sophie's teachers sunglasses cases, I really enjoyed making mine so it seemed like a good thing to do. I know I've got a few weeks to go but summer term is really busy and at the rate I'm going I still won't have time. I've made a little Russian doll case, here it is.

I've changed the design a little, I added a proper fastener with a button hole instead of the ribbon loop, which I felt would wear out quickly and also changed the way I attached the key ring too for the same reason. I really hope she likes it.

Rescued

I don't know what it's like where everyone else is, but blimey it's windy here. These peonies were a victim of the wind, I went out and they had been flattened. So now they are in the house looking beautiful and smelling wonderful ( I didn't know they even had a scent )

A start

Hello
I have at last started my little circles quilt in Rachel's stitch along. Mine is very basic and small. I'm using my favourite scraps, I'm hoping it will make a little mug rug for me to use at the computer.

Another thing just starting is some rocket that I sowed the other day, they are tiny.

Hello

Hello, sorry for the lengthly silence, we have been on a little holiday to France not much to show or tell just a sunny, relaxing, swimming everyday, break for us all and it was lovely.
Bump...back to reality, school fair? Well I've decided against it, I would only have a few weeks to get things made and one of those is half term and being realistic do I really want to spend hours making things that I can only sell for a few pounds? I am going to make a cake and donate a raffle prize instead, which will make time for me to spend the next few weeks gardening, yay. Also it will give me time to concentrate on a lovely quilt along at contented which has just about finished now, I'm really sorry Rachel.
As I haven't made anything I thought I would show you what has been growing instead.

I love this border it's turning out just how I want it, it needs a bit edging and weeding but thats a quick job.

The lavender is looking promising this year, I have to buy lavender but it is very satisfying knowing that some of your own went in too.

My lovely roses, the scent of the purple one fills the garden, especially in the evening, lovely.
Right I'm off to do some more planting (vegetables, this time).

Just a thought...

I purchased a lovely pattern to make an i-phone holder from the lovely Flossie Teacakes and made one for Woody, the shop and the school fete more recently.

This is the most recent one, made using linen and some more of Ceri's lovely fabric, I absolutely love the idea of putting some lovely fabric inside, it's kind of secret just for the owner if you know what I mean.
Anyway I was trying to think of useful sellable things for the fete, middle of summer hopefully sunny what about sun glasses cases, I know I need one. However I don't know much about making up patterns, so I thought what if the phone holder was a bit bigger, surely a glasses case must be based on the same principle. So I decided on the size cut out the rectangles and put it together in the same way as I did for the phone holder, much to my amazement it worked.

So here it is a finished sun glasses case, with a butterfly on the front and back and lined with a lovely liberty print, I also added a little keyring on the side. As it's the trial one I think I should keep it....you know to test it.... lol.
So that was my light bulb moment of the year ; )
