School fete mug rug

Ceri from Inspired by Felix might recognise the apple in the middle as it's from some of the lovely fabric she sent me. I'm planning to do a pile of these for the school fete, they will have slightly different tops but the bottom will be the same so you could have a set if you wanted. Eeek I've got so much to do.

Shop update

Hello, I've had a little price rearrange in the shop, I think some things were a bit too much and everything has been in there a while so I guess you could call it a sale, any way just to let everyone know.

Thrift shop treasure

I volunteer one day a week in the thrift shop here, it's a lot of fun we drink lots of tea, put the world to rights and obviously sort hang and sell second hand items. We don't get much in the way of lovely china and linen but we do get lots of lovely clothes a lot of them hardly worn (anything dirty or damaged is sold as rags).  On Wednesday I found this lovely dress for Sophie:

It's cotton and lined, such a beautiful colour and pattern and all the hem is scalloped. It had a bit of loose cotton and needed a wash, this is it all cleaned and pressed she wore it today for the garden party at her school in honour of the royal wedding.
Talking of the royal wedding I managed to get my cushion finished today too.

My brain had to work very hard to get the union jack figured out, but I got there in the end, it looks nice on the sofa I don't think I'll be making another though.

A little bit of making

I hope everyone had a lovely Easter break, ours was peaceful, very happy and obviously I have eaten far to much chocolate...yum.
I have been offered a table at Hollie's school fete in June, which is great and not great as I don't know what to make. As it's in June I need to get started, I think it will be mostly lavender things, I wanted to do something other than bags, I thought key rings would be nice and I quite like the idea of a little house for your house keys. So this is my trial one:

Ok so I guess it's a lavender bag with a key ring on it, but I think it's kind of cute.  It's made out of linen, the roof is out of my scrap bag and it's stuffed with yummy lavender, then hand embroidered.
Any ideas for school fete makes would be gratefully excepted.
Have a lovely long weekend, thank you Will and Kate, I do hope the day goes well for them and that Kate truly knows what she's letting herself in for.

Lovely things in the post

I received an unexpected parcel in the post yesterday, Ceri from Inspired by felix, who won the little bird give away wanted to send me a few of her fabric scraps which was really really lovely of her, she has been poorly so I wasn't expecting anything so soon. The post man handed me the parcel and I wasn't sure what it was, then I realised it was from Ceri, it was a very big and heavy parcel for a few scraps. So it was ripped open with great excitement and this is what it contained

There were 2 parcels one with fabrics Ceri knew I would like (left) and one which she thought I could try (right).

Some lovely lace trim.

I love this

and this

these are so beautiful

little fish

cute doggies and lots more than I could fit into one post.

I can't believe Ceri sent me so many lovely fabrics a lot of them are almost fat quarter size, thank you very much Ceri I love them all and I can't wait to make some new things with them.
I have been overwhelmed by the support, kindness, generosity and friendship of people in blogland and I am really pleased I started a blog, it's become so much more than a place to record my work.
Thank you to everyone who has helped me out and offered support and friendship I am very grateful to you all.

Not much making but loads of growing

I'm sorry for the lack of posts recently, I really haven't made much due to the fact that my life has been taken over by my allotment. I keep forgetting to take my camera down when I go....theres not much to see yet I'm still on the digging stage ( I don't know about digging for victory....I feel like I'm digging to Australia ) So I'm blaming:
the courgettes
the beetroot
the broccoli
the peas
the strawberries
and the garlic !
Hopefully back to making soon.

For the shop

I made another vintage lavender bag, which has made it into the shop.
It's quite hard to fit sewing in during the holidays but the girls are very good at amusing themselves ( trampolining at the moment ) so it is possible for me to do a few bits and bobs.
I love these lavender bags the colours and fabrics, they almost feel a bit royal weddingy ( is that a new word? ) I think it's the colours.

More lavender

I had a commission this week for a lavender bag in mostly duck egg blues and vintage style, sounds like a job for the new Rural Jardin bundle I got last week, any way this is how it turned out....

It's really pretty, very vintage looking, I think I'll do some more for the shop.

First official swap

I've just signed up for my first swap. It's with the flickr group: mini QT swap. This round is curves and circles and my partner is Norine who has a lovely blog called http://fivebahtelephant.blogspot.com/. I was really worried about fabric choices and what if she doesn't like what I make etc, (I almost didn't sign up at all) so I put up some pictures of a fabric selection, which she liked, which was a relief. Here are a few sneak peaks of what I've done so far.

I have also just brought a new free motion embroidery set for my sewing machine ( I'll post about that another time ) which has been used extensively on this quilt it's fab and I think it's made a huge difference.

Chocolate fudge cake

.......Well....if you have to make your own birthday cake.....

xxx

Early Birthday Prezzies

Look what the postie brought this morning. I may have.......a-hem......had a bit of a splurge, really I shouldn't have opened it till tomorrow, I couldn't resist.
I got some new wadding, a little bit of lacy stuff, some lovely grey linen and I thought I would give the Klona cotton a go in a natural shade. It's beautiful very linen like and a really good price. I also treated myself to a bundle of Rural Jardin by French General for Moda. All of this came from Ray-stitch one of my favourite fabric shops.
Right now I'm off to bake a cake for tomorrow with the girls ( Nigella's chocolate fudge cake ) I'll post some pictures if it's around for long enough. I'll be back tomorrow with the give-away winners, it's not too late to enter      http://mooandmouse.blogspot.com/2011/03/give-away.html right, see you tomorrow.
