The Fox and the Hedgehog.

"The fox knows many tricks, the hedgehog only one, but it is the best of all" I used this little saying on another autumn mug rug.

I'm hoping to re-stock my shops soon so I'm building a little collection to sell at christmas fairs or put in the shops we'll see how it goes, they could even be christmas presents. I would love to make all my own this year. I grew those little pumpkins too, aren't they adorable.

An apple a day

Yep more apples, are you bored yet?
I'm doing a mug rug swap and I haven't made one for a while so I thought I would have a little practise run, making mug rugs is fab so no excuse needed really.
I love the saying, "An apple a day" so that got added too. I seem to be going through a stage of putting little quotes on things at the minute. I enjoy hand sewing and it's nice to stitch a few words on to a piece I think.

Also I'm trying to use other colours than pink, I love using pink so it isn't easy, I'm thinking autumnal colours to help myself a bit. Actually two of the prints on this one are from the lovely stash of fabrics sent to me by Ceri, goodness it has been so hard to cut into some of those lovely fabrics hence the fact I still have some left.

Apples and pears....

....I love the shape of them and to me they always seem so autumnal. Autumn is a lovely time of the year and I love decorating the house with autumny things. The recipe for these apples ( which are stuffed with lavender of course ) are from a book called home sweet sewn and the pears, I just adapted the pattern to make a taller and not so fat fruit.

They are growing everywhere, ooh and the squashes are from the allotment of course and I'm really proud of them.

Baby quilt

One of the my friends at work and his wife are expecting a baby, yay :) just the excuse I need to make another baby quilt. They don't know if the baby is a boy or a girl, the big sister and daddy think a girl but mum thinks a boy, I'm with mum because I think us mummies know these things ;). Anyhoo I have tried to go neutral because quite frankly until it comes out no one knows. I have used purples, greens and a lovely autumnal print, I would be happy to use it for a boy or girl hopefully they will like it.

I made a horrible mistake with the quilt label, I stamped the moo and mouse with my stamp from skull and crossbuns, that looked fine, then in my infinite wisdom I decided to write the month and year in fabric pen. It looked awful! So it was a case of putting a patch on or trying to stitch over the top, I thought I would try stitching first and thank goodness it turned out just fine phew. Actually it looks really nice and I will definitely do it again, just not in permanent pen eek.

Seaside

We took a day trip to the coast, Cromer to be precise, it was lovely not very warm but lovely all the same. We ate fish and chips on the beach yummy and admired the multi coloured beach huts. I love all the old tractors for towing the little fishing boats down to the sea it's all so old fashioned and feels the way it should be no hi-tech fishing fleets here.

The sky does look fairly ominous doesn't it but that just makes the bunting and beach huts all the more cheerful. I don't feel like I've really been to the seaside unless I've been blown about and my hair is all tangled with sea spray. As a child we always went to Aldeburgh or Landguard common but that is a little too far for a day trip now, Cromer is just as nice though.
